Community Calendar for Monday, October 21, 2013 Monday 10/21 • Tribal Council Agenda: 9am - Secretary/Treasurer Update; 10:30am Chief Operations Officer Update; 11am - Draft Resolutions; 1:30pm - Legislative Update Call; and 2:30 – Enrollments • Today in JCMS Sports: Both 7th and 8th Grade Football will play at Crook County in Prineville. 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th at 5:30. • There’s a Sidwalter Community Meeting on the 2014 Budget tonight at the Sidwalter Fire Hall. An Agency District Meeting will be held tomorrow at the Community Center, and aired live on KWSO. The Simnasho District Meeting is on Wednesday at the Simnasho Longhouse, the Seekseequa District Meeting is Thursday at the Seekseequa Fire Hall. Dinners are at 6pm and meetings at 7. • The Native People’s Circle of Hope Warm Springs Cancer Support Group meets from 5-7pm today at the Education Building. You can learn about the Cover Oregon Health Insurance Exchange in Warm Springs at two locations - at the Health and Wellness Center and at the Family Resource Center in the Library. You can also get info on line at Cover Oregon Dot Com. This is all part of the Affordable Care Act and ensures everyone has coverage. If you don’t have insurance or if you only go to I.H.S. you should stop by one of those locations to learn more about your options. The Warm Springs Boys and Girls Club is open Monday thru Friday from 3:15 to 5:30pm. On non school days, club hours are 10am to 5pm. The club will be closed on designated tribal holidays, reduction in work hour days and during inclement weather delays or closures. The Washanaksha Cultural Grant Committee is seeking grant applications from tribal members, groups and new projects of education, heritage and culture organizations and Tribal Committees. Grant funding is sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Trust which provides funding to Oregon County groups and Tribes to support the arts and heritage. Grant applications are available on-line at W W W dot Warm Springs dot com. Hard copies are available at the Museum at Warm Springs, the Three Warriors Market (Simnasho), and at the Warm Springs Media Center. Grant applications are to be postmarked by or delivered to The Museum at Warm Springs by 5pm on November 15th. Warm Springs Recreation is organizing a new event for Halloween called Trunk or Treat. It is a new alternative to trick or treating. They are looking for any vehicles and people willing to participate and decorate their cars. It will be from 4-6pm on Halloween, the carnival will start at 6. FMI: Carol Sahme 553-3243. Tuesday 10/22 • The I H S Diabetes program will have a Diabetes Self Care Session tomorrow from 11 til noon and lunch after in the Health & Wellness Center Kitchen Conference Room. They will talk about medications, pregnancy, blood sugar and sick day management.
