Community Calendar for Thursday, April 24, 2014 Thursday 4/24 •Warm Springs jurors will need to check-in at 9:30 this morning at WARM SPRINGS TRIBAL COURT. •Kids at ECE will have a fun run at 10am today •EXERCISE CLASSES today – Low Impact Cardio and Strength class at 10am at the Family Resource Center; Turbo Kick Class 12:10 in the Community Center Aerobics Room; and Functional Fitness Class 12:10 in the Social Hall. •The Community Health Education Team begins its “Your Choice for Change” SELF CARE CLASSES today at noon. Lunch will be provided to all who participate. •The VETERANS & FAMILY HEALING CIRCLE Gathering is this weekend at the HeHe Longhouse. There will be healing ceremonies, talking circles, men’s and women’s sweat lodges and more – everyone is welcome. No fees of any kind are charged. Contributions of food, volunteer time or raffle items are appreciated. Contact Heidi Katchia for more information 503-804-4177. The longhouse will open at noon today and opening ceremonies are tomorrow evening at 6:30. •VFW POST 4217 will hold an installation of post officers today at noon at the Veteran’s Hall. •All are welcome to attend SOCIAL DANCE CLASS Thursday evenings from 5-7pm in the Community Center aerobics room. •Warm Springs Nation LITTLE LEAGUE Schedule: Rez Girls will be at Crook County at 6pm; and the Papooses host a game at 6pm. •All Denomination PRAYER SERVICES are held every Thursday at 7pm at the agency longhouse. Everyone is welcome. Friday 4/25 •Kahneeta is holding LIFEGUARD CLASSES that will begin on Saturday. You must attend all 4 classes to become certified. Participants must be 15 or older and able to perform specific swimming skills to take part. The cost of the class is $175. Contact the Kahneeta Pool for more information and to register 553-1112, extension 3458. •Warm Springs Community Counseling’s TALKING CIRCLE, a resource for tribal members facing unemployment, will meet tomorrow from 11am to 2:30pm. Meal and care baskets will be provided. FMI: Annie Kalama 541-553-3205. •The Jefferson County FILM CENTER will show “Searching for Sugar Man” Friday night at 7:30. The film center is in the Rodriguez Annex behind the library in Madras. Saturday 4/26 •The SEAN X. BRUNOE MEMORIAL Men’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament is this Saturday and Sunday at Juniper Hills Park in Madras. FMI: Duncan Brunoe at 541-279-5845. •The Root Feast Kids’ RODEO and Open Jackpot Rodeo are this weekend at the Warm Springs Rodeo Arena. The Kids Rodeo is on Saturday – same day entries will be done from 9-10am and events begin at 11am. The Jackpot Rodeo will be on Sunday with same day entries from 10-11am and events starting at noon. •The Warm Springs BOYS & GIRLS CLUB “Great Futures Start Here” Annual Fundraiser is on Saturday at Kahneeta Resort. Events include a golf scramble at 10am and then live and silent auctions, dinner, a beadwork raffle, and entertainment from 5-8pm. You can buy tickets at the Boys and Girls Club or contact June Smith at 553-2323. All proceeds benefit operations at the Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club.
