Community Calendar for Thursday, February 6, 2014 Thursday 2/6 • Warm Springs jurors will need to check-in at 9:30 this morning at Warm Springs Tribal Court. • Today’s Movin Mountains Mission Possible Slim Down Challenge free activity is: Water Aerobics at the Madras Aquatic Center at 10am • Exercise Classes today in Warm Springs are : o Low Impact Cardio will be held at the Family Resource Center at 10am o Functional Fitness at 12:10 in the Community Center Social Hall o Turbo Kick Class is at noon time in the Community Center Aerobics Room o Zumba class is at 12:10 in Pod A at the Health and Wellness Center • A “Week of the Young Child” planning meeting is being held today at 1pm at ECE. • A forum for people to share their experiences with health care in Central Oregon is today from 5-8pm at the Living Hope Christian Center in Madras. Free childcare and dinner will be provided. There will be a shuttle leaving from Warm Springs Market at 4:15 that will return after the event. To register and sign up for the shuttle, please call: Sharon Katchia at the Health and Wellness Center. • Today in MHS Sports - Varsity Wrestling will host a meet with LaPine High School at 7pm • The Warm Springs Elliot Palmer VFW Post meets tonight at 6pm at the Warm Springs Veteran’s Hall. They meet the first Thursday of every month. • The Art Adventure Gallery in Madras will have an opening reception for its latest exhibit today from 5:30-7pm. A winter nights Round Dance is tonight at the Agency Longhouse in Warm Springs. The Round Dance starts at 7. A Wellbriety dinner will be held in conjunction with the round dance to promote sobriety and wellness in the community and with visiting friends and relatives. Everyone is welcome to come participate with good feelings. Friday 2/7 • Warm Springs Recreation’s Sweetheart Sale is tomorrow10-4 in the Community Center Social Hall. • ECE is having a mini-powwow tomorrow at 10am at the agency longhouse. • There is a Fun Run Walk tomorrow at noon starting at the Diabetes Prevention Office on campus. They will provide water, a light snack and everyone who has their blood sugar checked will be entered into a raffle with drawing at 12:45. • There is a food fundraiser tomorrow at the Presbyterian Church from 11am – 2pm for J’Von Smith to go “Run Down Under in July. The also have a 50/50 raffle going with the drawing on February 28th. Tobi, Deanie or Ollie Smith have tickets. • Lincoln’s Pow Wow is this weekend at the Simnasho Longhouse. Friday new and re-joiners are at 5:30 with Grand Entry at 7pm. Saturday’s Grand Entry is at 1pm and Sunday it’s a 1:30 grand entry. Jefferson County Little League is having their Tri Tip and Chicken Banquet and Live and Silent Auction on Saturday at the RAPA Building, 2209 NW Clackamas Drive in Madras. It is a 21 and over event with over 75 auction items. Tickets can be purchased at Mail Copies N More or Madras Chamber of commerce.
