Community Door: A Guide to Model Work Health and Safety Laws for Volunteers Recent changes to Work Health and Safety legislations mean that volunteers working with organisations are in many cases treated the same way as employees. QCOSS has recently adapted a guide developed originally by the Tasmanian Association of Community Houses to help Queensland organisations assess their responsibility to and for volunteers. It includes a list of documents that your organisation will need to develop with links to templates. It also has a table of the key terms used in the Work Health and Safety laws and a guide to the SafeWork Australia website. Queensland-specific links are included. As in all cases, organisations are urged to seek advice specific to their circumstances as the guide can only offer general advice and point organisations towards assistance with developing their volunteer management strategies.
