Community Healing through the Arts, Thursday, October 16, 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM at Regional Arts Commission (RAC), 6128 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63112 (across from The Pageant). Free parking behind The Pageant or metered street parking. Two blocks from the MetroLink. Hear guest speakers Patricia St. Onge and Diana Marie Lee, longtime diversity and inclusion trainers who have worked in communities across the nation address the topic: Community Healing through the Arts, with moderator Treasure Shields Redmond. Patricia provides training, consulting and technical assistance in the areas of community organizing, social justice advocacy, organizational development, cross-cultural effectiveness, consensus building, and spiritual & personal coaching. Diana’s work with organizations focuses upon creating community wellness. Together they will facilitate a dialogue on how arts organizations in our region can respond to community needs post-Ferguson. In particular, participant dialogue will focus upon: o Success stories where the arts have been a healing force in the community following divisive events o Partnering with community members in meaningful ways o Leading complex change resulting in increased cultural inclusion o Decision making processes to ensure that arts programs are mission aligned, strategic, and of quality 1. Hear about diversity and inclusion challenges and efforts to overcome them 2. Consider identifying several goals to help their agency develop capacity to include diverse communities 3. Have the opportunity to connect with others also exploring ways to utilize the arts as a vehicle for healing and transformation in our region post-Ferguson.
