Community Member Paul Godsmark has expressed a concern that perhaps St. Albert City Council should consider the addition of a drone bylaw before its too late... Thoughts? Im guessing that there are probably a few dozen drones (aka model aircraft or even UAVs) being operated in St Albert this year. After Christmas there may well be a few hundred. By the end of summer I predict that there will be increasing public demand for a drone bylaw to protect our privacy and safety. For privacy consider this article and its links: cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/youtube-video-shows-drone-buzzing-vancouver-apartment-1.2740004 . For safety consider this article: designboom/technology/mannequin-drones-black-friday-deal-sao-paulo-11-27-2014/ . A great analysis of where Canada stands with drones and safety and privacy is this article: diyphotography.net/canadian-regulation-aerial-drone-photography-diyp-interviews-transport-canada-office-privacy-commissioner-canada/ . If you could post this up I would be able to see if there is support for a drone bylaw and we can maybe get the City and the Council to give some consideration to it whilst there is still the chance to be proactive. Thanks!
