Community Notice - Dear Friends, PLEASE JOIN US THIS THURSDAY, April 24, 2014, as I host a fireside chat and artistic tribute to raise awareness and support for The National Center for Civil and Human Rights. The event will take place at 6:30 PM, Park Tavern in Piedmont Park, located at 500 10th Street, Atlanta, GA 30309. I have invited my Council colleague, Andre Dickens, Post 3 At-Large; the Chairman of the Fulton County Commission, John Eaves; and the Chairman of the Atlanta Board of Education, Courtney English to join me as co-hosts for the evening. Atlanta serves as the home of several venues that highlight the city’s role in the quest for civil and human rights. Citizens and visitors alike are drawn to locations such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, the Carter Center and the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum to gain a better understanding of humankind’s on-going pursuit for equality and justice. Each of these is a place of learning and highlight how far we have come, and how far we have yet to go. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights will be another place of learning and understanding. Please join us for a lively discussion about the impact the Center will make on our city.
