Community and Sporting organisations around the Barron River electorate have received a total of nearly $290,000 in Round 82 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Member for Barron River, Michael Trout said ten organisations and clubs had benefited from the funding. “I am very happy to see so many groups in Barron River included in this Round. The funding rewards all those people who give their time and work tirelessly in our not-for-profit organisations for the betterment of our community,” Mr Trout said. “I am committed to ensuring they receive the most amount of funding possible. It’s great to see three school P & C associations included in this Round, allowing them to make significant improvements to the school’s facilities. “Whether it’s our local cricket club, our surf lifesavers or our animal care groups, it’s important we continue to get behind those making a difference.” Successful organisations within Barron River include: Cairns City Lions Juniors AFL Club - $34,940 to install shade structure.
