Community, friendship and fun …can you help? You might never have heard of Grendon Underwood and Edgcott Jubilee Committee (GUEJC), but if you came to either the 2012 Queen’s Diamond Jubilee street party or the 2014 May Bank Holiday Big Lunch street party in Grendon or have been to the monthly community lunch club at The Swan in Grendon, then you’ve been to one of our events. We also applied for and got an £800 grant from the County Councillors fund to sponsor local musicians to run a music workshop at GUC school in 2014. We started up in 2012, specifically to get people together in simple acts of community, friendship and fun … in short, what being part of village should be about. We’re not a charity, but we are a recognised, properly constituted body that has the ability to apply for local grants and raise funds to do community projects, in conjunction with other local groups. We’d like to do more, and are keen to get more views on what you – the communities in Grendon and Edgcott – would like. We also need to be able to raise more funds for our communities. What we need is: • A few more people to join our Committee … we only meet four times a year, so it’s not a great burden, but we can’t apply for community grants if we don’t have a regular committee • Your views on what activities and projects you’d like us to do • And your support … come along, get involved If you’re interested or think you can help, please get in touch or PM me. Many thanks
