Comparison is a Function of Evaluation I once again congratulate - TopicsExpress

Comparison is a Function of Evaluation I once again congratulate the Governor of Akwa Ibom state for the wonderful edifice he built in Uyo. The governor has indeed delivered the dividend of democracy to the people considering where the state is coming from and the low bar we have set in appraising our elected officers. The stadium is a worthy investment that will ensure the development of the state. At least the money is not resting in a foreign account of any public officer in consolidation of primitive capitalism. However, we cannot fail to interrogate the cost effectiveness of the project, especially when people are drawing comparisons with other governors and projects executed. Those who abandoned the need to showcase the achievement of the governor and indulged in needless comparisons have caused the need for the evaluation of the project. The comparison and evaluation for today is Akpabio and Amaechi: Gov. Akpabio: •Location----Uyo •Sitting capacity---30,000 •All natural grass. •High-tech floodlights •36 emergency exits •vIP lounges •Two video boards with screens placed under the roof of the curves at opposite angles(north and south) •cost---39.8 billion Naira Gov. Amaechi: •location---Igwuruta-ali (New City) •Sitting capacity---40,000 •Aquatic Centre of two Olympic size swimming and diving pools •25 emergency exits •Two football training pitches •Two volley ball pitches •Two basketball courts •Two tennis courts •Two badminton pitches •Two handball pitches •Two indoor sports halls •500 public toilets •Hostels and administrative buildings. •cost---31 billion Naira. Both are wonderful projects in my view. However, the Amaechi project was more visionary in conception and execution. A sports stadium should have room for all sporting activities. Bless you folks.
