Competing at Lee Valley, London in the latest Southern Athletics League meet, Huntingdonshire AC came away with a strong second place and 12 first place finishes. In the mens sprints, George Seach picked up the win in the B string 100m in a personal best 11.84 secs, while Owen King knocked over a second off of his electronic 200m best with 22.44 secs to not only gain an easy win in the B race but to also put him in the top 30 nationally in the Under 17 Mens age group, in which he still has another season to compete. Owen also claimed first in the B string long jump with 5.38m, his longest-ever leap. The first A string track race win for Hunts AC came from Owain Collard who covered the 400m distance in 52.73 secs. Over the longer distances, Dave Connell won the 2000m steeplechase A race with a very comfortable 6:33.05. Out in the field, Bob Ellingham placed first in the B string hammer with 36.39m, while 15-year-old Sam Durnan, competing in his first-ever senior league meet, won the B string shot putt with 9.00m. Sam later team up with Owen, Owain and George to run a very fast 45.14 secs to win the 4x100m. Although running as a senior mens team, had George been just seven months younger, they would have smashed the club Under 17 Mens record of 45.8 secs which had been anchored by Ryan Palmer four years earlier. On the womens side, Siobhan Skinner finished first in the 800m B race in 2:28.80 and later combined with Ella Blake, Jada Griffin-Howard and Lily Seach to win the 4x400m in 4:18.52. In the field, Diana Pereira and Sandra Pedley swept the pole vault A and B string events with 2.00m and 1.65m respectively. This was a gutsy performance by Diana who had two nasty tumbles in the 400m hurdles race beforehand but still picked herself up to finish the race.
