Competition Classes The beauty of training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - TopicsExpress

Competition Classes The beauty of training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the ability to train at or near 100% every day without the fear of getting injured. What this breeds is a greater sensitivity to body weight and mechanics and a fulfillment of your competitive drive on a daily basis. I think the next logical step on your journey is to actually compete in a tournament. But you cant expect to only train hard in the weeks leading up to a competition and do very well. I see a trend lately in fighters that only seem to train hard in their fight camp before a fight. In my view, the fight camp is to get you accustomed to hard sparring and to build a game plan and get your conditioning on par. It’s not the time to be learning new moves or only starting to take your training seriously. The same goes for a competitive BJJ fighter. At Elite we have competition classes for a reason. If you plan on competing, your attendance at those classes is important so that we can fine tune your technique and work on more sport oriented rules and positions. I personally take every opportunity I can to roll and drill so that when it’s time to compete the only things I worry about are making weight and cardio. Competition is guaranteed to make you a better martial artist so I encourage everyone to at least try it out. And if you are going to compete, let us help you prepare by attending our competition classes. Just my 2 cents but I want to see everyone succeed and not feel overwhelmed when your time to shine comes. Thanks. ~Travis Williams
