Competition themes: The goal is to receive entries that create strong demonstration projects on ways to design, develop, build, and interact within our special desert urban environment. These three themes are meant to enhance the design equally, working together to create an overall urban experience. a. Create/enhance a great urban environment through density, walkability, multi-modal transportation, strong communities, sustainable economies, vivacious culture, wonderful aesthetic experiences, and open spaces. b. Create/enhance a strong sense of identity for the city in which each sites are located. Demonstrate how the city of your choice is unique through the design. Ultimately, each competition entry needs to appear that it could only belong in either Tucson or Phoenix - but not both. c. Utilize our climate’s resources and opportunities to demonstrate water neutrality within the given site. Utilize the standards put forward by the Living Building Challenge.
