Complete overkill by the cops and thankfully not in the ultimate sense. Aggressively pulled over because of a minor unworn seat belt offence, a spike strip thrown down in front of the car, gun pulled. Naturally the occupants were frightened. It would make me think I had been mistaken for highly dangerous bank robbers or something. And whats the most sickening part of it is that they think theyre in the right since they clearly know theyre being video recorded and still carry out their attack with impunity. The passenger correctly and calmly stated he wasnt the operator of the vehicle when he declined the request to get out of the car. The Hammond police chief said In general, police officers who make legal traffic stops are allowed to ask passengers inside of a stopped vehicle for identification and to request that they exit a stopped vehicle for the officer’s safety without a requirement of reasonable suspicion, The key word is ask. Police ask people to do things that they dont have to do all the time and its our right to decline. They rely on the fact that people are intimidated and comply.
