Complete shutdown in Kashmir Valley A complete shutdown is being observed across the Kashmir Valley against the communal flare-up that took place in Kishtwar District on August 9. All shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was largely off the roads. The shutdown call was given by Hurriyat leader Syed Ali shah Geelani. Srinagar wore a deserted look. Attendance in government offices and banks was thin, officials said. Public transport was off the roads but private cars and auto rickshaws plied.
