Completely fuming & stunned this morning! As you probably know myself & Kelly took our children out of school earlier this year for a trip to Australia and despite asking for permission and asking for work to be set for them to do while they were away our permission was denied. We still went because it was a fact-finding trip visiting schools, looking at property, business meetings for job opportunities and also 2 family weddings. We accepted the penalty notices, although we do not agree with them, and paid both fines. Despite this we have now been summonsed to magistrates court over our daughter`s absence but not our son`s! Bizarre!! I have contacted Chloe Smith MP to ask for advice and some help and am also now seeking a solicitor for help (Andrea Smith??) I have just called Childrens Services at Norfolk County Council to explain that the penalty notices were paid and the woman in question who sent the summons only yesterday is not available as she is on holiday and does not work during school holidays! Both myself & Kelly take our childrens education seriously & neither of our children have had much time off school. We approached both schools & were completely honest with them as to the reasons for the trip. We did not try to deceive them or lie to them and this was not just a trip to Spain or Disney World for the sake of it this was a trip that could determine our future as a family! Any advice would be most welcome
