Compliments of Al Tallant: As a public servant, you commit the offense of bribery if you solicit, offer, or accept a benefit in exchange for your decision, opinion, recommendation, vote, or other exercise of official discretion. Penal Code § 36.02. Common sense should tell you if something is a bribe. If it is, don’t take it . So even if the amount of the gift is only $800 and still for benefit of the recipient, would that not be accepting s bribe? also, if you look at the report, most entries are blank-except for the indication of what district it is for. I am new to this and do not understand all of the implications, but something looks a little strange to me. Can someone else check this out? The obvious is becoming more apparent, thus hiding in plain view...and I believe, for reasons stated above, most of these Legislators will not acknowledge acceptance under the terms, knowingly and intentionally, as it would indict their behavior. For these reasons and more, some are saying they had no knowledge, beforehand. Well, I am not buying that, but then there is this burden of proof thingy. However, the saving grace for some is to Vote for Turner and prove the money had nothing to do with it. I believe the opposite is true, as well. So, if you are bailing from backing Scott, the only way we can put pressure on that decision is to have a recorded vote. You will remember, we have not had one and at the last minute, those running at the Speakers Seat, stepped down. As you know this gives cover to the issue; no recorded vote, no proof. This is why we must demand a floor vote for Speaker. Interfering with my Governance is a serious matter. Manipulating the issue and preventing an up and down vote, is messing with my rights to choose who represents me. I truly believe Scott Turner is a man of his word. I will demand my Legislator stand for a floor vote. Are you with me?
