Compromises are what moves us forward not confrontations. Talking - TopicsExpress

Compromises are what moves us forward not confrontations. Talking to my dad reveals more about the real issues than anything I have said or done in the past one year. He is Indian and proud of it. He likes Tamil and he actually writes and speaks better English than I actually do. His style from the legal drafts and other work is very formal in a very different style. Comparatively my English is somewhat informal (even the ones I take care to be formal). Its quite interesting and fascinating actually. I know he calls gay as an abomination and I have brought ignominy to myself with the gay thingy. He actually doesnt use the exact sentence. He actually is not mean and want me to do anything. Its just a comment. Its weird he actually likes me the most if all his kids. I actually sorta dont get it. Its a big puzzle. He says things like western value in a non-serious way. He doesnt seem to imply hatred he simply views Americans as funny that they I am part of the same classification. He understands America very well I think. He has a book of President Obama in his bookshelf which I havent read through yet. He also has lots of big books on contracts, Indian constitution, Hindu family law in India, Bhagvad Gita, thirukural, lots of Tamil books, Gandhi, some old law books by Hardy and what not. He is very religious and was impressed that I have Bhagvad Gita book with me. He also looked at The Story (teen edition) and read it as well. He just doesnt to have any reservations about The Story - an epic narrative in 21 chapters about The Bible. For me I think I read both Gita and Story to answer my problems. He reads them underlines something and doesnt actually say anything. I keep rambling about Krishna or Jesus or whatever getting worked up over who is mine like they are toys (both or one or none). He i think treats them in a different way. The flag of my father is the Indian Tricolor. Thats what giving me a pause. I have American flag and Union Jack with me. That doesnt anger him. Just not for him. He likes Chennai and Tamil Nadu, India. That has served him well so who am I to say anything. I am living under his roof!
