Comrades, Debate; The Allegory Of The Cave (I have been absent lately but I will return and tend to any unanswered or so far ignored threads I was on previously). You were born and have been raised your whole life within this deep, dark cavern. Surrounding you are your neighbors, your brothers and sisters, a whole community of people. You all believe the same things more or less, your society has been the modern principle of life since time began here in the cave. There are similar religions, varied but similar business practices, communities of rich and poor, varied nationalities and you have come through not just age, but also the commonly shared perspectives of this society from everyone in the society to recognize all of this as the truth. One day, wandering, you see a glint of light ahead and track it down. The further you wander from the cave, the more unusual and blizzard thoughts float into your head. Was that life real? What is normal? Could there be something more? Confused, though intrigued, you wander until you reach the exit of the cave, basking in the glow of the Sun. It is then that everything hits you, suddenly, with clarity. Everything that made no sense now seems obvious, Everything that seemed true now a lie, You have reached the point where you can see that life and its mysteries continue outside of the cave. No longer blinded by what you see as primitive superstition. But then you look back into the cave... all those people. So the debate, how could you bring these people into the light? There are two possibilities. Can they be reasoned with? Will spreading these truths through voice rouse them to suspicion or enlightenment, can they be lead to the light? Or can a man or woman who has been born and bred to live in a cave never come to bring themselves to such absurdities, Perhaps to these people, they cling firmly to what they are accustomed too, even if it is a lie, Must be they then be forced out of the cave. Where do you stand? -Marshal Chris (Paraphrased from ancient philosophy)
