Comrades, I recollect a previous circular of AIBOC wherein it was communicated that many leaders in UFBU were not in favor of this one day strike due to non-impact of 1 or 2 days strike. UFBU leadership agreed to the one day strike of 7th January for the sake of unity and solidarity as one of the affiliate was adamant for the one day strike which was already announced by them to oppose the move of IBA to seek fresh mandate from all Banks again. Therefore, the strike was to oppose the seeking of mandate again from the Banks by the IBA. Now, with this increase of 1.5%, the mandate automatically has been revised and our leadership was able to demolish the tactic of IBA for delaying the negotiation in the name of mandate from all the banks. Still the pressure of 4 days strike with an impact of 6 days is on the Govt/IBA. Mr Obama is also visiting the Country during that period and Govt will not like any unrest of large scale in the Banking Industry in his presence. Although, this is not an easy task with so many affiliates of different opinions in UFBU, but I am hopeful that our AIBOC leadership will be able to achieve a respectable wage revision for us as they are aware with the sentiments of officer community. Moreover, a good wage revision for bank employees at all levels is the demand of time to retain talent in Banking Industry and protect the Indian economy. Our only message to the leadership is - Our Leadership March on, we are ready for any sacrifice at your call.
