Concentration & Effort Must Co-exist(Continuation): This example applies to seekers also. Those who have just started their spiritual practice, often complain that they are not able to concentrate. For them the above story is a good lesson. Has not Lord Krishna declared in Bhagavadgeeta that to achieve concentration both practice as well as disinterestedness (in all other things) are necessary? Concentration of mind is much more importance of vairaagya (renunciation) has been stressed in the following saying: “Kevalaabhyaasa yogena dheeraikagryam na vinadati Vairaagyamapi samyojyam paake lavanavadbudhaih” Concentration of mind can not be achieved merely by practice. One should add, like one adds salt while preparing a dish, the ingredient called vairaagya (disinterestedness) to it. ”................Sri Swamiji
