Concept of Happiness Several scholars, scientists and thinkers - TopicsExpress

Concept of Happiness Several scholars, scientists and thinkers are working and persistently debating on the concept of happiness and how human psychology views this largely un-understood phenomenon in the world that we call happiness. The word happiness is used in a variety of ways. In the widest sense it is an extensive and broadly encompassing term for everything that is fine. It is often interchanged with terms such as ‘well being’ or ‘good life’. Even the founding fathers of the US, like Thomas Jefferson, have included the phrase “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” that gives humans the three inalienable rights by their creator and for which governments are created to protect. Psychologists such as Martin Seligman assert that humans seem happiest when they have Pleasure, Engagement (enjoyable, challenging activity), Relationships, Meaning (a perceived quest for something bigger), and accomplishments. However, in reality, scholars and laypersons alike have a vague preconception regarding the history of happiness. Therefore, not much research has been conducted on the concept of happiness.
