Concerned parent Says Please Help! My sweet boy has had issues with biting himself for a while now. He has formed a thick callous on one of his arms from biting so much. I bought some bicycle arms guards that were padded to protect his arms when he would bite. Now he has started biting his legs and even tried to bite his upper arm when he gets really upset. I have talked to ABA and OT they both said they couldnt recommend it But that some parents had used over the counter bitter agents to apply to biting area to cause the child to not want to bite. We have tried a couple of child safe products and they bitter flavors didnt work at all. We tried using alternatives to biting a while back (biting tube, necklace, bracelet) but it didnt help. We are considering trying to find some items to encourage him to bite on but are still nervous we will end up back at square one. Has anyone else gone through this experience or know someone who has gotten through this? We are very concerned for our sweet boy and just want to help ans protect him. Input/help is Very Much Appreciated!!!!
