Concerning Global Scholar: Parents you need to know what Global Scholar is and how it is a black hole of testing keeping your kids from meaningful human instruction and learning. This is a computer program every child in Alabama has to use. The kids have security codes. Teachers are treated like criminals if they delve into its secrets. It is treated like a high stakes SAT test. Your teachers are being chained to these type programs and have no choice. I know of one teacher in Alabama who asked to opt out of using this program and it was granted. Alabama Teacher: Please post this. I am an elementary teacher in Alabama. We gave a test last week. There were 35 complex multi step math problems on the test. Most of my students did not have the logic nor the stamina to complete the test. Many students just picked answers and moved own without any attempt at working to problems. The teachers in my school felt utterly defeated. Not one teacher in the building supports what is happening. I asked if I could print a report on each student and send it home for the parents to see their childs score. My administrator said that we should not send the report home. He said that the parents would not be able to understand the results.
