Concerning Todd Standing’s recent hair sample mtDNA results: Based on the 16S mtDNA sequence and the incomplete HV1 sequence published in the Calgary Herald article, given to me by Steve Alcorn, and the human reference sequence known as rCRS (revised Cambridge Reference Sequence), the following results were obtained from NCBI database searches: 1. Both the Standing HV1 sequence (incomplete) and the Standing 16S mtDNA sequence are 100% match to human. 2. The Standing HV1 sequence (incomplete) is 87% match to chimps. Standing got 85% with the whole sequence. 3. The rCRS is 85% match to chimps over the entire HV1 region. 4. The Standing 16S mtDNA sequence is 93 % match to chimps. 5. The rCRS 16S mtDNA sequence is 93% match to chimps. The conclusions of Todd Standing’s analyst, Stephen Fratpietro, are correct: (1) his sample is human, with no unusual sequences, HV1 or 16S mtDNA; (2) “…depending on where you look, the gaps between chimp and human DNA can vary.” Todd, you’d probably be wasting your time and money on further investigations of this sample. It may be from a bigfoot if they are feral humans, but you don’t know the sample origin with certainty. Get a picture or a body to go with the hair sample next time. Further details will be posted soon on my blog site: bigfootclaims.blogspot.
