Concerning the immigration ordeal, I understand some want open borders and say we all came from illegal immigrants. To that I say, that the frontier which we inhabited and claimed as a country was exactly that - a frontier. Now that every piece of land has been accounted for and claimed by various states, it is not appropriate for someone to cross the border illegally. How would you like it if someone walked into your house and started eating your food, using your money, and even if they helped around the house a bit? Even with the benefit of having someone helping with chores, Id still be uncomfortable and ask them to leave. Theres the difference between illegal and legal immigration. In the 1700s, this was a frontier, not a country. The two are very different. One is uninhabited, unclaimed land, and another is claimed and owned. With that said, I think we should pass the FairTax, end the Drug War, and end Welfare to all who come here illegally. That, in and of itself, would decrease the violence and the incentives to come here. Our country is headed more towards disaster than utopia, and theres much more I could write about that, but I will spare you :)
