Concerts feed my soul and make my world spin. Concerts are, in my opinion, one of the best things life has to offer. This summer Ive been to two Pearl Jam shows (two unbelievably great shows, let me add that), and the inevitable question came up, as always: How many shows have you been to? In order to shed some light on this highly important question Ive spent a lot of time this past week looking through boxes with tickets and memorabilia, browsing websites and internet forums and flicking through some old notebooks. So far I know for sure Ive seen sixteen Pearl Jam concerts in eight different countries, the first one in 1993, the last one this year, but Im not sure if Ive counted them all. Runners-up: Tom Waits, six concerts, five of those on his 2008 tour, four different countries. R.E.M., another fabulous live act (also after they stopped releasing good records), six concerts in four different countries. Some Norwegian bands should also be on that list, but this is as far as my research has taken me this week.
