Conditions for firing were very favorable last night, allowing hotshot crews to eliminate most of the unburned islands adjacent to the fireline near Cold Spring above McNeal Creek. Lines are holding today, and firefighters plan to finish firing there this evening, if conditions allow. Firefighters are working to contain a 5-acre spot just outside containment lines two miles south of Orleans Mountain. Dozers were able to construct direct line to an existing road below the spot. Some fingers of the fire have reached the western boundary of the containment lines south of Somes Mountain. Crews are watching for spots, but smoke is hanging low on the fireline, limiting sight distance
