Condolences pour in for John Carlo and Emily BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL His dream is to become a cop. But at a young age of 16, John Carlo Recibio Ruzgal is gone to meet his Maker. When news of death of John Carlo and his mother 44-year old Emily Recibio Ruzgal hit the airwaves, hundreds of their friends and family have flocked onto and poured messages of condolences and grief in the social media. And even before the local police had officially confirmed 39-year old suspect Michael Diangson turned himself over the authorities on Friday afternoon, messages left on the victim’s Facebook accounts were gathering steam. Most of them saying they were in disbelief over their deaths. “Nasaan ka man, siguradong di ka namin malilimutan,” “may you rest in peace Toto Carlo… your always in our hearts Toto forever,” and “noong isang gabi lang, ang saya pa natin nagdodota, di namin alam na yun na pala yung huling gabi na makakasama ka namin,” were some of the tributes and condolences for Emily and John Carlo. Last Thursday, they were found lying in a pool of blood in their residence in Barangay Tigayon in Kalibo, Aklan. Emily sustained head and neck injuries while her son suffered heavy blows to the head from a wooden paddle. But amid the messages of condolences to the Ruzgal family much of the radio news centered on the prime motive of the killing. Diangson, who acted alone in the senseless killing, felt he was often bullied and insulted by John Carlo. The suspect is a polio victim. “Wala akong kaalam-alam maski sa panaginip. Hindi ko talaga maisip na gawin niya yun,” said Maritoni, partner of Michael, to the local media.
