Confederation of Indian Industry Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research Website: primeministerfellowshipscheme Prime Minister’s Fellowships Scheme for Doctoral Research a Joint initiative of Science and Engineering Research Board and Confederation of Indian Industry In the year of Science, to attract talent for Doctoral Research and to boost industrial research by academic institutions, the government and industry have jointly developed a scheme to provide double scholarships to Ph.D fellows Applications are invited from already registered Ph.D fellows for academic year 2013-14 in areas of research of Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine from any recognized Indian university or Institute or research laboratory in India for award of Prime Minister’s Fellowship for Doctoral Research for a maximum period of four years to do research on industry-relevant topics leading to awarding of Ph.D degree Application format and necessary documents required are available on the website cii.in Fellowships: 100 fellowships Duration: Maximum four years Fellowship Amount: The total fellowship amount will be Rs 6 lakh per annum for a maximum period of four years 50% of this amount will come from SERB (being equivalent to the prevailing Govt norms for JRF/SRF of maximum Rs 3 lakh per annum and will be revised as per Govt rule time to time) Rest 50% (matching equivalent of SERB component) will come from a sponsoring company on behalf of CII Research Area: STEAM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine) Eligibility: Only those who have already registered for Ph.D in 2013 in any recognised university or institution of national importance in above areas of research will be eligible to apply Doctoral fellow should have registered for full-time Ph.D program in the academic year 2013-14 in any recognized Indian University/Institute/Research Laboratory Doctoral Fellow should have identified (before applying an industry partner who should be ready to support the research project financially and also lend technical and intellectual support) The topic of research should have practical relevance and industrial application as mutually agreed between applicants and sponsored industry The candidate and the proposed research topic should quality on criteria of excellence and relevance and be or technical and scientific merit The selected doctoral fellow should be willing to work with/in industry as and when required by the industry partner during the project period Selection Parameters: A high level Apex Council consisting of members from academia, industry and govt. will review the applicants and select the candidates for award of PM Fellowships The project should be innovative and of high scientific marks, with discrete R&D as opposed to exploratory investigation How to Apply: Applications will be submitted online A Joint Committee of SERB and CII, to be called Apex Council, will conduct transparent selection and monitoring of projects Applications have to be submitted online For application and detailed information, log on to primeministerfellowshipscheme Last date of On-line submission of application form: 30th November, 2013
