Confession #5738 Why did the chicken cross the road why Factually speaking, we can never be sure. Why does anyone do any of the things they do, chickens included? We do not have the scientific ability to pinpoint the exact thought processes that animals consider when making a decision. There are an infinite amount of possibilities concerning why that chicken decided to cross the road. Perhaps the chicken had never been to the other side, because as a young chick, her mother hen had warned her about the dangers that lie across the road. Perhaps the chicken, fueled by a desire for discovery, ventured across the road that day in order to expand her understanding of the universe in the only way she knew how. Perhaps the chicken crossed the road because it never had before—because it had, like us all, a deep-rooted curiosity for what it did not know—a burning desire to free itself of the shackles of its environment, to conquer the lands it had never been to, to live, to breathe, to thrive.
