Confession... I know I typically joke about things that Max does and make light of a situation...thats how I tend to cope with things. Been that way my whole life. Also, I do it so people dont know that sometimes I go batshit crazy...lol...which those who Ive let into our world have heard me cry, vent and get pissed about certain things! For the main part I can handle the meltdowns, tantrums and routines...the one thing about Maxs Autism that does drive me up the wall are his obsessions. (mainly the things I joke about) Those are the things that make simple day to day life rough for us!!! For example: storm drains...they are everywhere!!! And Max notices them everywhere we go...a simple trip to the grocery store can end in a meltdown before we even make it inside!!! In his mind he doesnt understand (yet) that he cant lay on a storm drain in the middle of a busy parking lot...so imagine having to drive around a parking lot and figuring out where a good parking spot is that Max wont see a Damn drain and we can make it into the store without any hiccups. You couldnt possibly imagine the glares, comments and stares that burn into the back of your head while your child is having a public meltdown and you try your hardest just to calm him because damit you need effin toilet paper!!!...lol...I will admit I use to be one of those people who looked at a child loosing it in a store and thought horrible things about the parents, thought how much of a brat the child was or even thought My kids will NEVER act that way...can you say reality check!?!?! lol...some parents are lazy with discipline, some kids are brats but Not all of them!!! You should never judge anyone because you dont know their circumstances 😉 I dont expect pity, this is our life...I wouldnt take Autism away because Max has a brilliant mind...I could just do without the obsessions! lol
