Confession time. I always loved my birthday and would celebrate the entire month of August every year (my longtime FB friends remember this). Wednesday is my birthday and I have not celebrated like I used to. Honestly I forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago. I had an internal battle going on inside of my brain. Part of me wanted to ignore my birthday and I was not excited about it because welcome to 40 was welcome to cancer for me. Having a birthday is what started me on this journey. However having that birthday also saved my life because I turned 40 had a mammogram and found out I had cancer. I have had this ongoing battle going on in my brain all week. Scary memories playing out in my brain, guilt and feeling ungrateful for not being excited for another year, then the thankfulness of having another birthday and feeling so good. I share this because I am ready to purge the scary thoughts and embrace 41. I am alive and I am healthy and strong and I CAN celebrate my life. This year was hard but it was a gift and that is what I pray to God for everyday, the gift of life. Yes 40 was difficult but is was also wonderful because so much love and support came into my life. So as my present to myself I wanna share my birthday with you all and give it to you. I got my gift, I am alive and healthy and strong because of Gods grace and love and Frank, the kids, my family and your love and support. So for my birthday I would like for you to go out and treat yourself. Go have a drink or cake or go out to eat or go buy yourself something and say this is for me because I deserve it because I helped Danae get through the most challenging year of her life and I celebrate her life with her. Post pictures of you doing it too! I love you all and your love and support has been the best gift to me. Frank is taking very good care of me for my birthday and I plan on thoroughly enjoying it.
