Confessions of a Celebrity Trainer. When the pro needs a pro. As both a student and a teacher of movement, I know full well the value of a coach. I have never hesitated to call in a pro when necessary. I love my chiropractor, my physical therapist, my holistic healer and others. I have sought out top trainers when I felt I needed a tune up and I regularly attend seminars with the best to continue to up-level my skills. I have been doing yoga for more then 10 years which may lead you to jump to the conclusion that I have some level of mastery. I assure you, I do not. I have some proficiency but I also have issues. Especially with my tight hips and my sketchy back. I also just love my Tom Morley Maha yoga sessions but classes are packed and watching the bend-y girls for cues on form, didnt really help me. I probably cheated my way into a few postures. It still made feel great and my flexibility improved for sure but I wanted to get some things MORE right. (Im not giving up this class, just adding to it, Tom is my fave). So I did the smart thing. I scheduled a private session with one of LAs top instructors, Calvin Corzine. I had taken his class and gotten my butt kicked but I loved it! Then one of my clients brought me to her semi private with Calvin. I really learned a few things that day so I wanted to go deeper. First private session: Today was amazing! We did some totally new things (for me) and I got cued on some very specific things I had been doing less than perfectly. I felt challenged but also so totally rejuvenated. It was just the right balance. I now know when I go back to class this will stay with me. Plus, I learned a really cool way to stretch my clients hips! Awesomeness all the way around. I understand its a luxury to hire private instructors (bless bless my clients think its worth it) but if you can take what they teach you and then apply it, you can leapfrog forward in skill and results. I will absolutely do this again! I want to continue to learn and improve. If you are into yoga, Calvin is amazing! If you want training or diet advice, Im kind of amazing as well. Even if its just one session, you can clean up a lot in your form or ask a bunch of questions. A good coach will meet you where you are and lift you up from there. You dont have to do this alone. A body that moves well, feels better and looks better! #getmoving #doyoga #motivation #fitspo #fitfluential
