Conflict of Interest---a lawyer is ethically prohibited from representing you at a time where you have threatened him with allegations of professional misconduct. Accusing your lawyer of conspiring with another lawyer to abandon the representation in an attempt to destroy your case CREATES an actual conflict if that lawyer proceeds while those accusations are active. A lawyer would be violating rules of professional ethics if he proceeded at that point. There would be a few options available at that point, one could be briefly continuing the matter to see if the Conflict can be resolved. Another option would be bringing another non-conflicted lawyer in to help. But, attempting to FORCE the lawyer to continue (while still making the accusations) makes the Conflict worse. Interfering in a discussion between your lawyer and opposing counsel makes it worse. Following up by telling a judge that your lawyer is screwing you when he is asking the judge for a 2 week continuance gives your lawyer, really, just one option...announcing to the judge that your client needs new counsel because you have a Conflict of Interest.
