Confronting Our Fears | Psalm 55:22 Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. Cast your cares on the Lord. Don’t gently carry them over and lay them down. Rear back and heave them like a fisherman throwing a big net into the sea. In fact, do this: write down your cares - your fear, anxiety, dread, doubt, turmoil, worry - on sheets of paper. Put them in a bag. Go to your church and cast the bag at the foot of the cross. He will sustain you. The Hebrew word translated “sustain” means “to support.” God is there to keep your feet steady on the treacherous climbs. He is there to hold you up when you stumble. He contains the fear so it doesn’t get out of control. He stands by your side at all times. He will never let the righteous be shaken. Life happens quickly and unexpectedly. Uninvited fear breaks down our doors with one phone call or test result, but when God is with us He will not let our faith fail. He will keep our hearts steady when the ground around us seems to be giving way. Father, I throw my fears, dread, worry and anxiety onto you. They are way too heavy for me. Please take them, discard them and fill me with your peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen. God Bless!
