Its bonkers of course, and Im so sure that others must have made the same observations - but albums like The Light, Back In the World Of Adventures and On The Sunday of Life are, from 2015, as far, if not further back in time than those Yes and Genesis albums were when the PT, Spock and TFK albums first appeared. Apart from making me feel old (which it does) - I feel pretty proud of those bands for their longetivity and the canon of musical adventures they have taken me on over the past quarter of a century. For me personally, theyve been an inspiration, not just for filling a hole or for reminding me of Yes, but for actually continuing and developing the journey that a lot of us started in 1969. The third (and fourth) waves have not had the platinum selling power that the first wave had but to my mind the ground has been every bit as fertile. As Maschine, Haken , Leprous, Synaesthesia, Animals As Leaders etc prepare to conquer the universe its plain to see that these struggling years for progressive music have not been wasted.
