Congrats Dr. Jason Munsell, 2013 Winner of the CCA Ray Camp Research Award. Dr. Jason Munsell, Associate Professor of Communication Studies, presented part of his ongoing research on the rhetoric of tourism in South Carolina in a paper called, “Rhetoric and Public Memory on the South Carolina State House Grounds: ‘Official Racism,’ the Guilt of Slavery, and the Limits of Rhetorical Experience.” His paper was very well received and for the second time in three years Dr. Munsell won the Ray Camp Research Award for the top faculty paper submitted to that annual competition. This award honors the legacy of Ray Camp, Professor Emeritus at North Carolina State University. Camp, a beloved, longtime member of the CCA, regularly contributed well-conceived, well-researched, well-written papers that helped set a high standard for conference submissions. Dr. Munsell also serves as the editor for the Carolinas Communication Annual, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Carolinas Communication Association.
