Congrats Ganoo & Bhagwan I have had numerous criticisms against Berenger for his perpetual deviation from what he used to be in the 70s. However, should he be taking strong positions and maintain same, I will not hesitate to congratulate him, for my position against Berenger has never been against the person, but against his forever changing views! In this context, both Rajesh Bhagwan and Alan Ganoo deserve applauds for their positions vis-a-vis some socio-cultural organizations. Like it or not, most socio-cultural organisations have for too long and for too many times gone beyond their limits! The time has come for those organisations to: 1. stop interfering in the political affairs of the country, and/or clear the perception they are interfering in same; 2. understand their role is not flirting and/or being in a relationship with a political party; 3. understand it was in the times of tribes that mots dordres had some importance; and 4. understand their duties are related to social and religion only. But, the recent strong comments from Bhagwan and Ganoo should not be just for the sake of a caisse savon. Strong comments will remain futile if no solid actions or if no intention of solid actions are undertaken. I therefore suggest the following: 1. Politicians to stop making speeches in religious functions; 2. the Media to censor politicians who make such speeches, and at the same time censor religious bodies who make political speeches; 3. the State to cut-off all religious subsidies so that those organisations do not feel the need to be answerable or attached (emotionally or otherwise) to the State; 4. politicians to publicly give an undertaking that they are not in any way associated and/or have any kind of interests in any religious bodies. 4. politicians to give a public undertaking that their individual religious beliefs will not in any way impede the day to day running of the country; and 5. politicians will keep their religion to their home/temples and the politics to the country. This way, yes, we shall be heading towards a united country...
