Congrats, Sony. You made the stupid decision to produce a film - TopicsExpress

Congrats, Sony. You made the stupid decision to produce a film about the assassination of a sitting dictator. Was there any moment when you thought maybe there would be blowback from this? I dont care if he is a horrible person, there are plenty of countries that think our Presidents are war criminals. If one of them (say Iran) put out a film depicting the assassination of Pres. Obama, wed be going apeshit right now. So you made the dumb decision to make the film, and now its all going to shit. Everyone got their feelings hurt because their emails got all hacked and everything. You had to pull your stars off the press junkets because theyre not smart enough to actually navigate the complexities of real life politics while defending their film, and now youve pulled the film completely. Why? Because the crazy dictator who you decided to shoot in the face in the film is a crazy dictator of a country with tons of resources and they decided they didnt want that film out there. So youre pulling the film, you say because youre worried about the safety of the viewing public. But the real reason is the other movie studios with films in those same theaters on Christmas day called Amy Pascal (she is having a ROUGH week) and said, Pull your stupid film because its going to ruin OUR box office because people arent going to go to the movies and risk getting blown up. So now, literally, the terrorists won. America looks like a chump. Because you had to make the stupid film. And no, this isnt a freedom of speech issue. Whether or not you greenlight a film isnt freedom of speech. Its commerce. You could have chosen not to make a film about the assassination of a real live person in the world right now and that would not have infringed upon anyones freedom of speech. But ya didnt. And now youve helped demonstrate to terrorists how to shut us down without even entering our country. Good job. hollywoodreporter/news/sony-cancels-release-interview-758924?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=hollywoodreporter_breakingnews&utm_campaign=THR%20Breaking%20News_now_2014-12-17%2014%3A08%3A24_rford
