Congrats to Alexis for winning the Get Phat Challenge. She won a Cruise for 2 all expenses paid. If you love her story and want to be a part of Get Phat and take control of your life then join now to win a trip to Chicago to train with Nicole Wilkins in April. Email Jen at Jenhendershott@gmail for more info - here is Alexiss story! Where do I begin? I was in my prime last year at this time and found out that I was pregnant. I was so in shock and worried about the effects on my body. It was a surprise, but I have body issues anyway, so that was a concern for me. I wanted to make sure I was able to keep my physical fitness the way it was, so after doctor switches and some minor setbacks, I felt ready. I talked with Jen and we formulated a plan. I made it!! I gained 15 pounds total and delivered a little guy in the middle of July, 2 weeks early. I watched my diet for the most part during pregnancy....I would indulge once a week, after the 30 week mark, and I made sure to track all my activity and calories. I felt that it kept myself accountable when I did stray from the diet. I never felt guilty. For the most part, up until the 30 weeks I did not want much, except a good diet soda! I had an emergency C-section after being induced. I thought I would be able to handle the natural birth fine, but that epidural was my saving grace in more ways than one! I made it to a level 14/20 with Pitocin, but if I had not taken the epidural, I would have had to be given anesthesia. In that case, no one would have been allowed in the room and I would not have been able to see the little guy at birth. I was a nervous wreck without my mom in the room! Thank goodness my husband was able to come in - the epidural was a blessing in hindsight, so, I could not have asked for a better guardian angel. So.......... we bring little man home and I wont lie, food was the last thing I had time for. I barely ate the first month. I was constantly going and doing and running around. I started cardio again after three weeks, focusing on 45 min consistent sessions for the three weeks until a doctor cleared me. I healed exceptionally well and was back at working with weights and entering the challenge 4 weeks post partum. It has been challenging for me! I had some body dysmoprhia after the babe, but I worked through it. I also have struggled with going and re-starting weight training, since I had not been around them for almost 20 weeks . I was not motivared enough to weight train at the end of my pregnancy. Slowly I have been getting back into a weight regimen and doing consistent cardio. I dont like to miss any days - I feel so much better with a morning workout - especially with the chaos of life. I am not complaining at all...I could not be more blessed...I am only grateful. I am currently finishing a degree in speech therapy (YAY!), interning 2 days a week, working 30 hours at a court reporting office, taking care of a household and an infant. I feel like superwoman and I wouldnt change a thing. I make it to the gym usually 4- 6 days a week and that is my time. I cant wait to step it up from here and then maintain this level. I only would like to improve, but I have learned in life, acceptance means more than any other thing in the world. So, I accept that if I stayed just like this I would be THRILLED. But I would be grateful if I was able to make those changes. I may not win this challenge, or any challenge, but I am a winner anyway. I feel like a champion inside and outside from these past weeks and that means more to me than anything. I cant thank the Get Phat Online crew enough. Jen has been more than a trainer to me. She is someone I look up to and aspire to be like. I want people to always see a kind heart and warm smile when they encounter me. Life is filled with people who cross our path and lead us to greater things. We need all the floaters in life to lead us to a solid ground and that is what I have found with Jen. Im stuck! When I started this whole program way back when, I was just finishing finding who I was and wanted to be. When I started this challenge, I was finding my footing being Alexis and yet being a new mom, and I learned that I can still be Alexis and still be a good mom and they dont have to be lost within each other. They compliment one another. I have grown into someone who I truly admire. Thank you Jen Hendershott and staff for believing in me, sticking with me, and continuing to lead me into a better ME!. -Alexis
