Congrats to ESA for the historic landing of Philae on Comet 67-P Churyumov-Gerasimenko. On this note, Id also like to remind you all that currently exhibited alongside my photographs at Sala da Cidade (Coimbra), is ESA hardware such as the MIDAS (Micro Imaging Dust Analysis System) test model from Philaes accompanying Rosetta spacecraft. MIDAS is an atomic microscope that is designed to study the morphology of cometary dust particles collected during close proximity operations with the comet. Other items on show include the XXM Reflection Grating spectrometer, Space Shuttle components and personal, space-flown possessions of ESA astronaut Jean-François Clervoy. The exhibition is on until the end of December so if youre in Portugal or about to vista Coimbra make the most of your trip and stop by the show.
