Congrats to Girls Swimming on winning their sectional! Good luck to all those competing at the state meet this weekend. The Wolfpack captured the IHSA Sectional Championship last Saturday, beating out runner-up Lane Tech by over 75 points. The Wolfpack swept the 3 relay events and picked up 5 individual event wins and qualified every event for the state meet. In relay action, the 200 medley relay foursome of Nina Mantich, Jamie Doherty, Rebeca Martinez and Emma Dolan raced to a new meet and school record in winning the event by over 5 seconds. The 200 free relay of Nikol Lagodzinska, Clare MacNamara, Dolan and Natalie Tapia finished first, setting a new meet record. The foursome of Tapia, Marysol Arce, Martinez and Lagodzinska came away victorious as well with a new meet record. Tammy Stelnicki and Ellie Rollo started off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 1 meter diving competition. Nikol Lagodzinska finished 2nd in the 200 free but picked up the state qualifying time. Clare MacNamara finished 3rd just missing the cut. In the 200 IM Rebeca Martinez took second, finishing under the state cut with Marysol Arce in 4th just off the standard. Natalie Tapia picked up a win in the 50 free in a new meet record and Emma Dolan finished 3rd just missing the cut. Martinez won the 100 fly with a new meet and school record and Kyleigh Spearing took 3rd. The Wolfpack had a 1-2 finish in the 100 free with Tapia and Lagodzinska both qualifying for state. In the 500 free Arce and MacNamara finished 2nd and 3rd as both dipped under the state cut. Nina Mantich took 2nd in the 100 back, setting a new fr/so school record and qualifying for state. Brianna Gist finished 3rd. Jamie Doherty prevailed in the 100 breast to qualify for state and Emily Erickson finished 4th.
