Congrats to Margaret Mayton, Betty Lindsey, and Terri Barrow - winners of the 30 Bonus Roll drawing from this weeks Challenge bit.ly/dicechallenge14 As for the Challenge itself, Dice Sr. Product Manager Nick Freilich offers his analysis: I’d work backwards here, asking not what should I do, but what will my opponent likely do? The most probable outcome of my opponent’s next two turns is a Small Straight and at least 1 point on 1s, leading to an Upper Bonus. This translates to about 66 additional points, for a final score of 285. Now that I know that, my question is: how do I score at least 57 points in my next three turns? Since I’ve already collected my Upper Bonus, the only chance I have to accomplish that feat is to get a Five of a Kind, and I’d therefore optimize my play in that direction. So here, starting with two 3s already, I’d hold them and try to get five of them. If I miss, but I get a Three of a Kind worth at least 10 points, I’d score the Three of a Kind and try, during my final two turns, to hit the Five of a Kind. If I don’t get a Three of a Kind worth at least 10 points, I’d score this turn on 2s and continue to aim for a Five of a Kind. Sadly, the odds here are not in our favor.
