Congrats to our Great Black Speaker, William Clement! History Makers & the Library of Congress have recently notified Mr. Clement that his video oral history interview for History Makers is now at the Library of Congress. ------------------------------------ William Clement Economic Empowerment - Successful Business Executive with a special insight into the issue of both income and wealth inequality for people of color greatblackspeakers/author/billclement/ Mr. Clement is the former President & CEO of Atlanta Life Financial Group, Inc., one of the largest and oldest black-owned financial services company in the country. Founded by an ex-slave in 1905, Atlanta Life is a privately-held financial services company which provides insurance, asset management and investment banking services. Bill was awarded the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation by the American College of Chartered Life Underwriters Mr. Clement is the founder and former Chairman & CEO of DOBBS, RAM & Company, a systems integration company. Founded in 1981, DOBBS, RAM & Company was a sub-contractor engaged by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to develop and maintain the IRS “E-Filing” system, the national system used to electronically receive federal/state income taxes. In 2006, DOBBS, RAM & Company was selected as the Technology Firm of the Year for the southeast region by MBDA, the US Department of Commerce. Mr. Clement is the former Vice President and Senior Loan Officer of Citizens Trust Bank in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Board Member of two publicly-traded companies. He is active in numerous civic and community organizations around the issue of entrepreneurship, social and economic parity. Mr. Clement is former Chair of the board of Opportunity Funding Corporation, a trustee of the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation, and a trustee of the Woodruff Arts Center, and the Trustee Board of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Clement was a charter member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta and a former Board Chair of the Atlanta Business League. Mr. Clement served as the Associate Administrator of the US Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C. during the Carter Administration. He served as manager for the federal governments largest minority business development program, the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development program. In the 2012 book, A View From The Top, by Beatyrce Nivens, Bill was one of 15 black CEOs, Corporate Leaders and Entrepreneurs profiled in the book. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Clement received his BA from Morehouse College and his MBA from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. As a member of the Society of International Business Fellows, he studied at the London School of Economics.
