Congratulations - you made it into med. Honestly, Im happy for you. But: we all need to drop this serious notion of academic hierarchy that seems to imply that prospective med students, or any other university entrants, are infinitely more successful, smarter, or otherwise better than other school leavers. You got an ATAR greater than Clive Palmers body mass and received a first round offer for your prestigious university degree? Fantastic. Rolling around in academic wankery as a result, however, is unjustified and comes across as crudely flippant. Some general behavioural suggestions to these people from yours truly: * Got into Med isnt necessarily an achievement that is far more superior than acceptance into any other course, job, or centerlink payment scheme. * Hearing mention of a TAFE course should not be received as obscene profanity. TAFE is not a blasphemous phrase, and should be treated with some bloody respect. The stereotypes surrounding blue-collar professions are horrific. * Any mention/vague allusion to the disparity in potential salaries between Med students and others, directly or indirectly, is generally received as a crass attempt to belittle the other 98% of the population. So if you are truly smarter or better than the rest of society through outstanding academic achievement, realise that your outlook for employment and life opportunity is almost equal to every other person. Study med; become a doctor. Study law; become a lawyer. But dont strut around dismissing everyone because you wrongly believe a university offer entitles you to be better than everyone else.
