Congratulations DeShawn Adams! Morehouse College Student Chosen to Live Tweet from the White House During President Obama’s State of the Union ATLANTA, JANUARY 27, 2014 – Morehouse College Junior DeShawn Adams has always wanted to go to the White House. Now, the Greensboro, North Carolina native is not only going to the White House, but has been hand-picked by the Obama administration to participate in a live Tweet session tomorrow night. Adams is among a handful of people chosen to participate in a Tweet up at the White House on Tuesday, January 28, during the President’s fifth State of the Union Address. After the address, the participants will have an opportunity to interface with senior administration officials to talk about the vision and policies laid out in the speech. Adams said the invitation started with a Tweet. The White House asked those interested to explain in 140 characters why they should participate. Apparently, Adams’ 140 characters worked. This is the third time the White House has hosted the State of the Union Social event. It is part of a series of White House Socials that invite social media followers to join in-person events, engage with administration officials, and share their experience with their friends. The hashtag #SOTUSocial will be used during the Tweet Up.
