Congratulations Joyce Tamate and Gayleen Tasmania, newly appointed Director Generals of the Niue Government. The women are at last given their dues as leaders of our nation and taking control of some of the important decision making processes of the nation. Joyce is heading the Ministry of Natural Resources and Gayleen is heading the Ministry of social services. In the new Public Service Transformation project that was implemented last year, various departments have amalgamated under a Ministry structures. For instance Joyce is now responsible for the running of the following departments: Agriculture and Fisheries, Environment and Met. Gayleen is responsible for Education, Health and Taoga Niue. The third Director General for the Ministry of Infrastructures is yet to be recruited. Please correct me if my facts are wrong. This is indeed progress and history in the making.
