Congratulations and kodos to all of the young people who made time in their schedule and traveled to DC or stayed in Boston and participated in the marches and protest keeping the attention on the wonton slaughter of Black men in this country. I apologize for those older people who insist on further exploiting cliche Civil Rights rhetoric, demeaning you and all the time suggestiing their offering you sound advise. Talk is cheap! I know this experience has been transformative for you. You will now view everything around you with a different pair of lenses. God endowed you with a musical gift and you will now be more descerning who you allow to bend your ear and offer you facile advise on your career choices and trajectory. You are honing your skills as a leader. And I for one am very proud of all of you. You will find as you return that many of your so-called peers and advise givers will not be able to look you square in the eyes because now you know the real deal. And when they dare to try it --you will check them. You have joined the ranks of activist-artists. The angles and the ancestors are smiling down on you . If we dont SaveOurSelves no one else will!
