Congratulations to CYCSA entrants Secret Mens Business 3.5, Two True Tarka and our adopted British boat Quokka in the Rolex Fastnet Yacht Race. Quokka is owned by RORC past Commodore Peter Rutter and was invited to join our two boats to make up a CYCSA team in the event. The Rolex Fastnet Yacht Race ranks as one of the most prominent and difficult ocean races in the world. The ‘Fastnet’ race takes yachts from the start line in Cowes around Fastnet Rock south of Ireland and then to the finish line in Plymouth. Yachts in this year’s race faced a head wind most of the way to the ‘rock’ and then once they turned to head back towards the finish were met with a wind change and more head winds. Secret Mens Business raced in IRC Z Division and out of 14 boats in that division finished 3rd. Two True Tarka was in IRC 2 Division and in a field of 78 boats finished 14th. Overall there were 288 boats racing IRC. The weather this year favoured smaller boats on handicap and this is reflected in the results with Two True Tarka achieving 36th place overall and Secret Mens Business placing 93rd in the 288 boat fleet. Our adopted boat, Quokka, was placed 29th overall. Congratulations to all of our members that competed and their shore crew and we look forward to seeing you back on home soil soon. Craig Evans, CEO, CYCSA
